Can Wholesome! Organic Molasses be substituted for brown sugar in a recipe?

If Wholesome! Organic Sugar is added in conjunction with the organic molasses the substitution should work. Part of the joy of baking with organic brown sugar is the combination of structure and texture that sucrose offers complemented by the molasses flavor profile. We recommend mixing 1/4 cup molasses into every cup of organic sugar. As a straight one-to-one replacement for brown sugar, it really depends on the recipe: in a sauce or other liquid, the substitution may work, as where if it is a baked good, the results may not be as promising. In baked products, it will likely be very difficult to get them to rise, develop a crumb, without any sucrose. But house rules always apply; go play!
