Hot Days and Cool Treat

Is there anything better than a cool treat on a hot day? We didn’t think so! Here are some great ways we’ve come up with to beat the heat!

Marvelously Melon

homemade watermelon mason jar drink for kids

This is the ultimate summer thirst quencher and it’s so simple! You can prepare these ahead of time in mason jars and just throw them on ice for a spectacular grab-and-go drink. They also transition beautifully from kiddy-time to mommy-time by adding your favorite adult mixer. Just make sure you use different glasses to avoid any confusion!

Here’s what you’ll need:

Mix 1 cup of Watermelon Juice with 1.5 oz (a regular sized shot glass) of simple syrup, serve over ice and garnish with a Surf Sweets Watermelon Ring!

Homemade Simple Syrup: Heat 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar in a small sauce pan until sugar dissolves.

Watermelon Juice: Blend cubed watermelon until smooth. Strain using a mesh strainer for a smoother texture.

I Heart Freeze Pops

We heart freeze pops, but don’t heart the horrifying list of ingredients that often come with them. Then we discovered Zipcicles, an awesome company that makes zip-top ice-pop pouches that you can fill with one of their many fantastic recipes. We filled ours with some homemade lemonade and Surf Sweets Organic Fruity Hearts.

Reduce, Re-use and Thank You!

Parties produce a lot of waste. Why not minimize our impact with a little creative flair. Instead of throwing away bottle after discarded bottle, thank your guests for attending by gifting them with their own personalized, reusable water bottle. Provide a refill station and say goodbye to the plastic bottles. All you need are some stickers, washi tape and reusable water bottles. Ello has some great glass options available at Target or online.

Back by POP-ular Demand

popcorn and candy make the perfect sweet-and-salty party snack

You can’t have a circus party without popcorn and candy, so why not put them together? Mix your favorite popcorn with Surf Sweets Gummy Bears for the perfect blend. The sweet and salty flavors will transport your entire family. Although we love to pop our own corn, there are some great non-gmo options on the market today to make your life easier.

Tickets for a Great Time

With so many fun options for backyard carnival games, you just have to decide how much time and energy you want to spend! Place a ticket value on each game and let your guests redeem them for prizes to take home! Here are some of our blue ribbon picks:

Guess How Many?

Fill a jar with Surf Sweets Organic Jelly Beans. The closest guess gets to take home the jar!

Pass The Ring

Have the kids stand in a circle with straws in their mouths. Take turns passing a Watermelon Ring from straw to straw.  If you drop it, you’re out.  But don’t worry… the 5 second rule still applies.

Balloon Pop

Blow up balloons with tickets inside and attach them to a cardboard board. When someone pops a balloon with a dart, they keep the tickets inside.

We don’t have parties for the presents; we celebrate these milestones to connect to our loved ones. What better way to make lasting memories than a DIY photo booth! We painted some raw wood cutouts from Michael’s to match our theme and added some props.
