Wholesome Sweeteners and Celebrity Chef Gale Gand on Target to Sweeten San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival

Sugar Land, TX (November 19, 2013) – This week, Wholesome Sweeteners will sweeten up the 10thannual San Diego Bay Wine + Food Festival running November 18-24, showcasing its diverse line of Organic and Fair Trade certified sugars, syrups, nectars and honeys, all made from nature’s best resources. A first-time sponsor of the festival, Wholesome Sweeteners will be giving out free samples of its most popular items and Celebrity Pastry Chef Gale Gand, of Tru Restaurant and Food Network, will whip up some of her finest dessert creations throughout the festival featuring Wholesome!’ products.

The Wholesome Sweeteners’ team will be sharing “Rosemary Cornmeal Cookies” made with their Organic Sugar, honey samples and recipe cards at the Grand Tasting. Wholesome Sweeteners is also sponsoring the dessert category for the Chef of the Fest Competition at the Grand Tasting this year where chefs will be crafting restaurant-worthy desserts using Wholesome!’ products as they battle to win the competition.

Meet Gale Gand 
Gale Gand is partner and founding executive pastry chef of Tru restaurant in Chicago with restaurateur Rich Melman. She has been recognized as Outstanding Pastry Chef of the Year (2001) by The James Beard Foundation and Bon Appetite magazine and as one of Food & Wine’s Top Ten Best New Chefs (1994). Chef Gand is also a long time member of the James Beard Foundation and Les Dames D’Escoffier. She was the host of the long-running Food Network show, Sweet Dreams, currently airing on The Cooking Channel. She has appeared on Martha Stewart, Oprah, Iron Chef America, The Dr. Oz Show, Baking With Julia (Child) and Nickelodeon.
