Wholesome Sweeteners Is Chefs’ Key Ingredient at International Pastry Competition

Emmy Award-Winning Competition Web Series – Premieres January 20!

Sugar Land, TX (January 16, 2014) –The Season Three premiere of the Emmy Award-winning Chicago Restaurant Pastry Competition is right around the corner on Monday, January 20, and products from Wholesome Sweeteners will cameo during the series. Created by 2013 Dessert Professional’s Top Ten Pastry Chef Jimmy MacMillan, this riveting competition web series pits four of the best pastry chefs from around the world against each other in a literal “battle of the whisks.” The first of four episodes will debut on January 20 with subsequent episodes debuting each month through April.

Wholesome Sweeteners was recognized as a “brand of distinction” throughout the competition, and finalists use items from the full sweetener product line to craft their original dessert presentations.

Finalists were selected for their creativity and outstanding plated desserts from dozens of submissions. Viewers will be able to see the finalists crafting original dessert presentations with full access to the Wholesome Sweeteners product line, as well as other brands of distinction. The competition was filmed in September 2013 at The Chicago School of Mold Making’s creative center in Oak Park, IL.

“Each year, the competition gets fiercer and this season is more intense than ever,” says Chef MacMillan. “These chefs are masters at what they do and really elevate pastry arts. As we roll out the four episodes in 2014, viewers will learn so much from these chefs and pick up on some of their secret tips and incredible techniques.”

Episode 2: February 17 – Mystery Casting Challenge

Episode 3: March 17 – Signature Plated Dessert

Episode 4: April 21 – Awards Reception at Grace

This year’s celebrity judges include superlative Pastry Chef Antonio Bachour from St. Regis Bal Harbour in Miami, Curtis Duffy from acclaimed restaurant Grace in Chicago, and avant garde globe-trotter Will Goldfarb representing Ku De Ta in Bali.
