DIRECTIONS:
Step 1
Set aside tofu and 3 tbsp cornstarch & 3 tbsp water.
Step 2
Put all other ingredients in a pot, bring to a boil, and simmer for 7-9 minutes.
Step 3
In a small bowl combine cornstarch & water to create a slurry. Add a ladle of the sauce into the slurry and mix until smooth.
Step 4
Then add the slurry to the pot and whisk until thick.
Step 5
Continue to simmer until sauce is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.
Step 6
Cut tofu into large cubes.
Step 7
Heat a large skillet over medium heat with oil, and add tofu.
Step 8
Gently sauté until golden brown and then add the sauce.
Step 9
Reduce heat and cook for a few minutes until thickened and caramelized.
