DIRECTIONS:
FOR THE COOKIES:
Step 1
Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Step 2
In a large bowl fitted with a paddle attachment, cream together the butter and powdered sugar until light and creamy, about 3 minutes.
Step 3
In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder and salt.
Step 4
Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture, and mix on low speed until just combined.
Step 5
Divide the dough into two equal portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and place in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
Step 6
Working with one batch at a time, roll out the dough to about ¼ inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.
Step 7
Use tree cookie cutters to cut into tree shaped cookies and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Step 8
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden, but cookies are still light in color. Cool on a wire rack completely before frosting.
FOR THE ICING
Step 1
Melt the butter in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl.
Step 2
In a separate bowl, add melted butter to vanilla extract and heavy cream.
Step 3
Then slowly add in the powdered sugar and whisk until it’s satiny smooth but still firm enough to hold a basic shape.
Step 4
Divide the frosting in half, and add a little bit of green food coloring to one batch and more to the other, in order to make two contrasting shades of green frosting.
Step 5
Place in a piping bag and decorate cookies with the frosting. Enjoy!
