DIRECTIONS:
Step 1
Heat a sauté pan over medium high heat. Add olive oil and onion and sauté until onion is soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 2
Add garlic and sauté 1 minute more.
Step 3
Add ketchup, apple cider vinegar, honey, soy sauce, chilis in adobo and their sauce, and whole chili and stir until combined.
Step 4
Allow the sauce to come to a simmer.
Step 5
Add all the spices and cook over low heat until desired consistency is reached, about 15 minutes.
Step 6
Mix in fresh lemon juice and remove the whole chili.
Step 7
Allow sauce to cool till warm, then use an immersion blender to make sauce into a smooth consistency.
